Theodore Kytka 1906 San Francisco Examiner Supplement - No. 5, Panorama of the Western Addition and the Mission This approximately 120-year-old newspaper panorama has substantial condition issues, including numerous fold creases, edge tears, small losses, age-related discoloration and staining, and tears extending into the printed image. The largest tear enters approximately 7 1/4 inches from the right edge. Additional separation and paper loss are present along the center folds. Please review all photographs carefully for the complete condition. Appears to be an original period San Francisco Examiner supplement issued August 5, 1906, following the April 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. Identified as No. 5 - Panorama of the Western Addition and the Mission, the image shows the ruins of City Hall and St. Ignatius College, with Twin Peaks and Strawberry Hill visible in the distance. The lower margin is marked "Copyright, 1906, by Theodore Kytka." The Library of Congress identifies this publication as a 1906 halftone photomechanical print issued by the San Francisco Examiner. Measures approximately 32 inches wide by 18 inches tall overall. A striking survivor documenting the widespread destruction and early recovery landscape of San Francisco following one of the defining American disasters of the early 20th century.
