Theodore Kytka 1906 San Francisco Examiner Supplement - No. 1, The Stretch of Ruin From Nob Hill to Russian Hill This approximately 120-year-old newspaper panorama has condition issues, including numerous fold creases, age-related discoloration and staining, edge wear, small tears, and areas of paper loss along the lower corners and edges. Additional cracking and short tears are present near several fold lines and side margins. Most tears appear to extend only a few inches, with larger irregular sections missing from portions of the lower edge. Please review all photographs carefully for the complete condition. Appears to be an original period San Francisco Examiner supplement issued July 8, 1906, following the April 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. Identified as No. 1 - The Stretch of Ruin From Nob Hill to Russian Hill, the image was taken from the top of the Fairmont Hotel and is credited as a telephoto by Theodore Kytka. The lower margin is marked "Copyright, 1906, by Theodore Kytka." The Library of Congress identifies this publication as a 1906 halftone photomechanical print issued by the San Francisco Examiner. Measures approximately 32 inches wide by 18 inches tall overall. A striking survivor documenting the widespread destruction and early recovery landscape of San Francisco following one of the defining American disasters of the early 20th century.
