1892 Colt Double Action .38 LC Caliber Revolver, Mfg 1901, 6" Offered here is an antique Colt double-action revolver chambered in .38 LC caliber, consistent with Colt's "New Army and Navy" double-action revolver line produced in the 1890s. Markings: Barrel address: "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." with patent dates "AUG.5.1884 · NOV.6.88 · MAR.5.9[5]" Barrel also stamped "COLT D.A. 38" Serial number stamped on the frame beneath the cylinder release Matching-style number stamped on the latch/frame components Secondary assembly numbers stamped on the grip frame underside Rampant Colt medallion inset into checkered hard rubber grips on both sides Features: 6-shot fluted cylinder Round, blued/nickel steel barrel showing typical age-related patina and freckling Fixed front and rear sights Checkered hard rubber grip panels with Colt medallions, one grip retained by a brass-colored screw Traditional swing-out-style loading gate/ejector rod assembly (period double-action mechanism) Condition: The revolver shows an attractive plum/gray patina with scattered surface freckling and oxidation consistent with age, along with expected handling wear to the grips and finish.
