Provenance Private Collection, United States. The reverse bears a Saidenberg Gallery, New York label identifying the work as an oil on canvas by Oswaldo Guayasamín, executed in 1985. Description A striking expressionist portrait depicting an elongated, fragmented female figure rendered with angular forms, oversized hands, and deeply expressive facial features. Executed in a restrained palette of ochres, browns, and blacks, the composition conveys emotional tension and introspection through exaggerated anatomy and dramatic chiaroscuro. The monumental treatment of the figure and simplified geometric construction evoke themes of human suffering, dignity, and resilience.
