Title Voyage au Centre de la Terre Medium Synthetic Polymer Paint on Canvas Dimensions 39.5 × 39.5 inches (100 × 100 cm) Date 1963 Condition Good overall condition. The painting displays clean geometric forms, crisp painted lines, and well-preserved color with light surface wear consistent with age. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. Provenance Gagosian Gallery, New York, New York (gallery label affixed verso); thereafter Private Collection. Description A striking geometric abstraction composed of concentric square bands rendered in black, charcoal, gray, olive green, teal, and blue surrounding a central black square. Executed in synthetic polymer paint on canvas, the composition emphasizes symmetry, precision, and optical depth through the rhythmic repetition of concentric forms. The restrained palette and rigorous geometry create a compelling visual meditation on space, proportion, and perception. Attributed to Frank Stella (1936–2024), this painting reflects many of the stylistic characteristics associated with the artist's early geometric abstractions, including concentric linear compositions, hard-edge painting, minimalist structure, and the disciplined use of repeated forms that established Stella as one of the leading figures of Postwar American abstraction.Condition Report:This artwork is offered as attributed to the artist referenced in the title.
