Title Buste de Femme Medium Oil on Canvas Dimensions 31 1/2 × 24 inches (80 × 60 cm) Date 1939 Condition Good overall condition. The painting displays vibrant colors and bold, well-defined forms with light surface wear consistent with age. Framed and ready for display. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. Provenance Galerie Louis Carré, Paris, France (gallery label affixed verso); thereafter Private Collection. Description A vibrant Cubist portrait depicting the stylized bust of a woman rendered in bold geometric forms and vivid planes of turquoise, blue, pink, gray, black, and white. Executed in oil on canvas, the composition exemplifies the artist's mature exploration of abstraction through simplified facial features, expressive line work, and a dynamic interplay of color and form. The strong profile and frontal viewpoints merge seamlessly, creating the visual complexity characteristic of twentieth-century Cubism. Attributed to Pablo Picasso (1881–1973), this painting reflects many of the stylistic characteristics associated with the artist's late Cubist portraits, including fragmented perspective, bold black contours, flattened pictorial space, expressive color harmonies, and the synthesis of multiple viewpoints within a single composition.
