Provenance Formerly held in the private collection of Alessandro Bellini, Milan, Italy; later acquired through Galleria d'Arte Moderna Firenze; subsequently preserved in a distinguished New York collection of European Modernism before entering the present secondary market collection. Description This captivating metaphysical composition presents two enigmatic mannequin-like figures standing before a luminous blue sky while geometric architectural forms occupy the foreground in a carefully orchestrated arrangement. The balanced perspective, dreamlike atmosphere, and symbolic elements create a sense of mystery and timeless contemplation characteristic of twentieth-century metaphysical painting. Attributed to Giorgio de Chirico (1888–1978), this work displays many of the stylistic characteristics associated with the artist's celebrated metaphysical compositions, including faceless figures, architectural symbolism, harmonious perspective, and a surreal sense of stillness. The composition evokes the visual language that established de Chirico as one of the pioneers of Metaphysical Art and a profound influence on the Surrealist movement.Condition Report:This artwork is offered as attributed to the artist referenced in the title.
