Presented are two examples of banknotes issued by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, with a face value of 50,000 Gold Soles, dated August 23, 1985. The obverse features a portrait of Nicolás de Piérola, a prominent 19th-century Peruvian politician and president, a figure linked to national reforms and historical processes. The reverse features an industrial allegory depicting work in the oil fields, a symbol of the country's wealth and economic modernization at the time. Main features: Denomination: 50,000 Gold Soles Issuer: Central Reserve Bank of Peru Issue date: August 23, 1985 Obverse: Portrait of Nicolás de Piérola next to the Peruvian national coat of arms. Reverse: Scene of workers in the oil industry, with oil derricks in the background. Predominant colors: Red, green, and grayish tones. Material: Paper currency with period-specific security features. Condition: Both banknotes show signs of use and natural wear, with visible creases and slight discoloration, typical of their original circulation, confirming their historical character. Additional Notes: This type of banknote, of high denomination at the time, represents the final period of the Soles de Oro coin before it was replaced by the Inti in 1985. Their historical value and the portrait of one of the most influential figures of Republican Peru make them prized pieces in numismatic collecting. Provenance: Private collection. These banknotes are highly valued among collectors and have the potential to be highly sought after at international auctions due to their rarity, high denomination, and historical context.
