This 19th-century hand-colored sporting engraving is titled Lord William and portrays a celebrated trotting horse harnessed to a high-wheeled racing sulky. The print is inscribed Painted by W.J. Shayer at the lower left and Engraved by J.R. Mackrell at the lower right. The central title reads LORD WILLIAM. THE PROPERTY OF SAMUEL LAWRENCE ESQR. A publication line for the publisher GEO. NEWBOLD, 304 STRAND, W.C. is positioned above the title. Total frame dimensions: 30.75 x 26 inchesThe print shows overall paper toning and visible foxing, most notably in the sky region. Hand-coloring remains bright and well-preserved on the horse and driver. The frame exhibits wear, including scuffing, loss of finish, and chipping to the gilded inner border. The verso is paper-sealed and fitted with hanging wire.
