Estimate: 150 / 1500 Twain, Mark (Clemens, S. L.) LIFE ON THE MISSISSIPPI. Boston: Osgood, 1883. 8vo, illustrated throughout. Bound in the publisher's variant 1/2 calf over marbled boards with marbled endpapers and page-ends. FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE with the illustration on page 441 depicting an urn with Twain's head in flames, and page 443 illustration incorrectly captioned as the St. Louis Hotel (later changed to St. Charles.) Condition: Rear gutter cracked and binding with wear to edges and light stains; contents overall clean throughout exhibiting little signs of use. Very Good overall.
