The official Ratio Studiorum ("Plan and Method of Studies") of the Jesuit order, establishing the curriculum, teaching methods, administrative organization, and educational philosophy for Jesuit colleges throughout Europe and the overseas missions. One of the most influential educational texts of the early modern period, it standardized instruction in grammar, rhetoric, philosophy, theology, and the humanities, helping shape Catholic education for centuries during the Counter-Reformation.
