Antique 19th century British bone china covered dish with relief molded Rococo Revival scrollwork handles and lid finial with gold highlights. Has a wide cranberry border. With a gold gilt medallion in the center of the dish. Gold scrollwork to the white center of the lid. Has gold and white scrolls along the edge with gold and white shells, and gold seaweed coming off the shells into the cranberry. Unmarked except the pattern number 9666 on the bottom of the dish. Produced by John Ridgway & Co between 1830 and 1855. Has wear to the gilding, heavy wear to the gilt medallion in the center of the dish, scratches and wear to the center of the dish and cranberry ground consistent with age and use, a chip to the edge of the lid, and a curved crack extending off the foot with an associated smaller crack and associated small area of loss. Measures approximately 11 1/2 inches wide from handle to handle x 6 3/8 inches tall to the top of the lid finial. We can offer packaging and shipping on this lot to a domestic USA address for $30.
