A large and detailed bamboo carving of a Chinese junk. A large segment of bamboo has been hand carved into the shape of a Chinese junk. There is a moveable rudder at the back with a hollowed-out cabin and two sets of Chinese sailors on board. The boat rests on a hardwood stand that is attached with slot head screws. The bamboo has had a preservative applied that gives the bamboo a shiny, reddish look. MEASUREMENTS 18 in (45.7 cm) long x 4 in (10.2 cm) wide x 7 ¾ in (19.7 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 13.7 oz (835 g) CONDITION There are no breaks, cracks, chips or repairs. The boat is missing whatever was inserted into two holes in the top front of the boat. It may have been a sail. There are some wear spots and scratches on the surface. A work of art by a Chinese carver that shows much hand work and expertise.
