Anthropomorphic Farmer Cow cookie jar

Updated October 23, 2026

This item is a vintage anthropomorphic farmer cow cookie jar, manufactured in Japan during the mid-20th century (circa 1950s–1960s). It features a whimsical, round-bodied cow sculpted with a cream-colored torso and large, bulbous bright-blue polka-dot pants with molded yellow-buckled suspenders. The cow character is depicted holding a paint roller or corn cob in one hand and a bucket in the other while wearing a small yellow straw hat that serves as the finial handle on the removable lid. Like many pieces from this era, it is typically marked with a simple underglaze "JAPAN" stamp on the bottom.
