Stage Actor in Costume. An original hand-colored theatrical etching, believed to be nineteenth century, presenting roman or renaissance hero from an unidentified stage production. The individual performers have not been verified. Such actor-in-character images were popular theatrical keepsakes and now appeal to collectors of historic drama and costume. A dramatically posed man in vivid orange-red-and-gold embroidered short tunic with raised arms stands between monumental arches. The composition is presented on a cream paper sheet measuring 10 x 12 inches overall; image dimensions have not been provided. No readable caption or reverse cast label supplied. Visible condition: Scattered marks and light edge discoloration; margins appear complete in the overview. Review all supplied photographs for paper margins, lettering and details. The actor, dramatic character and play are not securely identified in the available photographs.
