Title: Cubist Portrait of a Seated Woman in a Green Dress Technique: Gouache on paper Measures: 18 x 14 inches (45.7 x 35.6 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good overall condition based on the photographs supplied, with vivid coloration, clearly defined painted contours, and expressive variations in pigment application. Minor surface irregularities and age-related wear may be present. Presented in an ornate gold-toned frame featuring decorative scrollwork and raised detailing, with minor variations in the gilded finish. The reverse displays a brown protective backing with subtle surface creases and minor handling marks. The artwork has not been examined outside its frame, and the condition of the underlying paper support cannot be fully assessed. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: The work was acquired in 2009 by an european collection through a private sale. Visual Description: A stylized portrait depicts a seated woman wearing a dark emerald-green dress with pronounced geometric contours and finely articulated linear patterns. Her asymmetrical face combines frontal and profile perspectives, rendered in contrasting shades of pink, turquoise, ochre, and cream. The figure's folded arms and elongated proportions are framed by a burgundy upholstered chair, while vertical turquoise stripes animate the warm peach-colored background. Bold black outlines, fragmented facial features, and decorative curves establish a dynamic relationship between form and color. The composition evokes Cubist portraiture through its distorted anatomy, flattened spatial organization, and expressive treatment of the human figure. A painted inscription reading “Picasso” appears in the upper right corner. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
