Hearts Court Card Plaid Back c1900. Single vintage German-suited-style or regional-pattern playing card, probably late nineteenth or early twentieth century, displaying a double-headed male court figure wearing an elaborate red, yellow, green, and blue costume with two heart emblems. Fine crosshatched outlines and bright color areas give the figure a charming lithographic character. The reverse bears a closely spaced green diagonal plaid design that matches other individual cards offered in this catalog; maker and precise pattern are not identified on this particular card. Antique cards of this type interest collectors of European card printing, decorative graphics, and unusual period costume illustrations. A modern LGBTQ collector might appreciate the male portrait and heart motifs, but no original LGBTQ symbolism or connection is claimed. The card shows moderate toning, scattered surface specks, softened rounded corners, faint staining, and rubbing along the edges. Dimensions and printing technique await physical confirmation.
