$3 Million McLean Mansion & Gallery Auction

Prime Auction Solutions presents a landmark event bringing together the contents of a $3 million McLean, Virginia residence, fine estate property, and the holdings of a closed private gallery. The residence was furnished slowly and with intention over many years, and every piece was selected to live in a house of this scale. Bidding is open now, and lots begin closing Sunday, August 30th at 7:00 PM EDT. The Italian furniture is the anchor of this sale, and it is not production work. These are artisan pieces of the highest order, custom commissioned and executed by hand, with floral marquetry, matched burl veneer, hand carved detail, and finishes brought up through successive layers. The bombé secretary bookcase is representative: a serpentine bonnet top over a glazed vitrine, a slant front and drawer fronts inlaid with flowering scrollwork, raised on carved claw feet. Pieces at this level are made to a commission, not to a catalog. Alongside them are dining suites, seating, bedroom groupings, and carved pedestals scaled for large rooms and high ceilings, together with decorative arts throughout: crystal, colored glass, mirrors, lighting, porcelain, and sculpture. The gallery brings quality artwork to the event, including framed oils, works on paper, and signed contemporary canvases held for the right buyer rather than offered at retail. The gallery's hand knotted collector rug collection is presented in full, in room size and scatter dimensions, including a fine Tabriz Mahi in wool with silk highlights alongside traditional and transitional patterns. This is the kind of quality that rarely reaches the open market together.
