2 Vtg. Chinese Porcelain Cricket Boxes 2 Vtg. Chinese Porcelain Cricket Boxes featuring hand-painted Famille Rose / Qianjiang Cai enamels, likely dating from the late Qing Dynasty (Tongzhi or Guangxu period) to the early Republic Period (mid-19th to early 20th century). The boxes feature tapered rectangular block bodies with reticulated (pierced) air holes on the top lid. These holes are cleverly shaped like traditional Chinese coins ("cash" coins) to allow the crickets inside to breathe while doubling as a symbol of wealth and good fortune. Signed by the decorator on side of box. Some paint loss, chipped edges / wear to corners. Please see photos for more details 6"h x 4 3/4"w x 2"d
