. "U.S. ARMY" Distinguishing Tape (Top) • Description: A vintage gold-on-black woven branch tape identifying a soldier's service branch. This specific style with golden-yellow lettering on a black fabric strip was standard issue on field combat fatigue uniforms (like the OG-107 "pickle suit" and M-65 field jackets) from 1953 through the mid-1960s before transitioning to low-visibility subdued green and black. • Estimated Value: $5.00 to $15.00 depending on whether it is unissued new-old-stock or cleanly removed from a period uniform. 2. Sergeant Major (E-9) Rank Chevron (Left) • Description: A large male-size Sergeant Major (E-9) cloth rank patch featuring three gold embroidered chevrons pointing up, three lower curved rockers (arcs), and a gold star centered in the middle. It is a sew-on patch designed for the sleeves of the traditional dark blue Army Service Uniform (ASU). • Estimated Value: $6.00 to $12.00 as a single loose vintage patch. (A brand new replacement pair retails commercially for about $15.00 to $18.00). 3. Sergeant (E-5) Rank Chevron (Right) • Description: A standard male-size Sergeant (E-5) cloth rank patch showcasing three gold embroidered chevrons pointing upwards over a dark midnight blue background. It features a small orange price sticker indicating its rank classification ("Sergeant E-5 Used"). Like the E-9 patch, it is a dress blue uniform sleeve insignia. • Estimated Value: $3.00 to $6.00 for a single used vintage piece. (A brand new replacement pair retails for about $6.00 to $13.00)
