(9) Thomaz de Mello Portuguese Folk Art Wooden Dolls. Mid 20th Century dolls with lathe-turned beechwood bodies and handpainted. The tallest measures approximately 7 1/2" high. Eight of the dolls have Thomaz's signature, "TOM," under base. One lady doll holding vessel does not have his signature but appears to be almost identical to another doll with his signature. This doll is marked, "Made in Portuguese Eril LDA," which was a mid 20th Century Portuguese manufacturer or exporting firm. Also included is a 7 3/4" wooden peg doll and a 5 3/4" Korean Artiste Co. Korean old man with hat and stick doll. Condition- Dolls have wear, stains, discoloration, paint loss, could be missing things from hands, etc. Lady with vessel has two nails sticking out of back.
