An antique cast iron sewing machine head marked "The FREE" produced by the Free Sewing Machine Co. of Rockford, Illinois. The black enameled body features ornate Art Nouveau style gilt and green peacock feather decals. The machine retains its hand wheel, tension assemblies, and is mounted to a fragmented wooden base via original hinges.
