Two boxes of 38-40 Winchester, also called 38 WCF, holding cast lead handloads rather than the factory loads named on the cartons. The first is a Western Super-X carton marked 180 grain soft point, Oilproof, 50 cartridges, catalog 3840. Its tray is full, but the rounds inside are cast lead with mold lines and lube grooves. The second is a Remington and Peters carton hand marked 50 center fire empty primed shells 38 40 Win and holds loose loaded rounds of the same kind. Headstamps read REM-UMC 38-40 WIN and WESTERN 38-40 WIN, a mix that confirms reloaded brass. Counts are unverified; verify quantity on pickup. Cartons are worn, soiled and split. Condition is fair. Buyer must comply with all applicable local, state and federal laws regarding the purchase, possession and transport of ammunition. This ammunition was handloaded by the late Jack Ferguson. It was not commercially manufactured, has not been tested, and is sold for component and collector value. The buyer assumes all risk of use. Estimated Value: $40 to $75 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
