Original ink drawing on paper by American artist Audrey Weprin, depicting a seated female figure rendered in an expressive modernist style with loose, energetic linework and strong gestural contouring. A small standing figure appears at lower left, emphasizing the scale and psychological quality of the composition. Signed and dated 1963 lower right. Presented matted and framed. Size: 22 1/2" x 19" framed. Audrey Weprin (1927-2019) was an American artist born in Chicago. She studied painting under Rudolph Pen and was involved with the Art Institute of Chicago. During the 1970s, Weprin worked for CBS National News as a courtroom artist, producing drawings from major trials including the Wounded Knee, Kent State, and Black Panther proceedings. She also worked in pastel and watercolor and was active as a weaver and bobbin-lace maker.
