Lithograph.

26*36 cm

Edition: 76/100 Signature: Picasso (lower right) Date of creation: 1959 The subject is Jacqueline Roque, Picasso's second wife and late-life muse. In 1959, Picasso created a series of works featuring Jacqueline on horseback; this is the third piece from the series. Depicted wearing a feathered hat and red riding habit upon a white horse, Jacqueline is interpreted as Picasso's tribute to her "queenly" status. To him, Jacqueline was not merely a life companion, but the "queen" of his artistic realm. This series conveys Picasso's profound meditations on love and power in his later years. Through Jacqueline's figure, he wove personal emotion together with artistic ideals, forming an important representative body of his late-period creations.
