an Original Pattern 1842 U.S. Cavalry Pistol built by Ira N. Johnson in Middleton, Conn. The ramrod is hinged to the pistol so it cannot be lost while riding and loading. Sells in High Condition with its 8 1/2" barrel, brass pommel and furniture. The sight blade is missing. The Contract to Johnson was for a maximum of 10,000 pistols and no one knows how many were actually produced. But a whole lot Fewer still exist today.
