Great selection of a vintage Teddy Ruxpin bear and accessories, perfect for any collector. Teddy Ruxpin was an iconic animatronic talking toy bear, notably one of the best selling toys of 1985 and 1986.Ruxpin was created by former Disney animator Ken Forsse and revolutionized the toy industry with his ability to “come alive” to tell stories. Unlike standard toys of the mid-190s that operated on simple pull-strings or repetitive soundboxes, Ruxpin operated on Dual-Track Cassettes for which the bear would synchronize movement. One track played the story’s audio, and the second track sent hidden electronic data signals to internal motors resulting in movement. These signals controlled his eyes and mouth, causing them to move in perfect synch with the spoken words. This direct lot features an original Teddy Ruxpin Bear which still holds great external presentation. It does appear that there was some slight battery corrosion in the battery area upon discovery, but this has been majority cleaned. Some repair to the tape deck section of the toy might also need some slight repair, but otherwise very clean unit prime for restoration. Other than these items of notice, Teddy Ruxpin is formally untested. Accompanying the Teddy Ruxpin toy is a great assortment of add-ons, first including the “Teddy Ruxpin Winter Outfit” accessory. Also included is two larger story sets with an intended 6 books and 6 cassette tapes in each. These are also fully complete with the exception of one missing tape (making 11 instead of 12). Teddy Ruxpin’s original “Care And Instructions” pamphlet is also included. Ultimately this set is perfect in two different ways. It either acts as a great starting restoration set for anyone who has yet to build a Teddy Ruxpin collection, but also this collection holds good elements for any completionist as well.
