Excellent selection of a Sterling Silver Coffee Biggin (or pot), perfect for vintage display or elegant table service. Item measures 8.5” H and 4” W across the rounded front. It is also 8” across from the tip of the spout to the edge of the handle. The main structural body features a beautifully balanced, upright cylindrical shape on a raised circular foot accented with a classic ridged border along the upper rim. It is equipped with a beautifully hand-carved insulated wooden handle and lid finial. The lid features an engraved family crest depicting a hand tightly clutching an arrow. The piece features a full set of official British hallmarks stamped on both the lid and the main body. The marks include the maker’s initials of “CS over H” which stands for the prominent London master silversmith Charles Stuart Harris, The Lion Passant guaranteeing .925 sterling silver purity, the Leopard’s Head for the London Assay Office, and finally the lowercase Old English date letter of “d” indicating a manufacture year of 1899.
