Wijsmuller, Jan Hillebrand (Dutch, 1855-1925) “De N Z Voorburgwal Te Amsterdam” (The New Side Inner City Wall Canal in Amsterdam). Signed and titled in plate. 9" x 6 7/8" (Plate). 17" x 13" (Frame). Visible foxing and spotting. In a wood frame. Not examined out of frame. Jan Hillebrand Wijsmuller was a Dutch painter known for his atmospheric landscapes and cityscapes in the tradition of the late Hague School. Trained in Amsterdam, The Hague, and Brussels, he earned early recognition by winning the prestigious Willink Collen Prize in 1883 and remained an active member of Amsterdam’s artistic community throughout his career.
