Historical emblems from the book Sacra Exequialia in Funere Jacobi II: magnae Britanniae regis exhibita ab eminentiss et reverendiss principe Carolo, sanctae Romanae ecclesiae, cardinali Barberino, in templo sui tituli Sancti Laurentii in Lucina. Pub. Rome, 1702. Book dedicated to the mourning and commemorative funeral rites of King James II (1633-1701) of England, Scotland and Ireland. Image 1: PERGENS FERVET ET CLARESCIT SVB MERIDIE SPL ENDENTISSMO (translated from the Latin : Moving forward, it glows and grows bright beneath the most bright beneath the most brilliant midday sun). FIDEI MAGISTRA ROMA (Rome, Teacher of the Faith). Image 2: EMERGIT NITIDISSI MVS. (Translated from the Latin: It emerges most brilliantly.) LONDIUM (London) WHITTHALL (Whitehall).
