Al Saal and Jack Gwynne

Updated September 21, 2026

Unusual thick, stiff papier-mâché mat, known as a "flong" (used as a negative mold and then filled with molten metal to cast plates for newspaper printing presses), cut from once larger mat for full newspaper page, with impressed artwork showing Saal (as "The Man with the Lights, Toledo") and Gwynne with the production of a bowl of water and poultry from a scarf. Vintage newsroom item, unique, circa 1930s. $45+
