The map depicts a coastal landscape view of the historic port city of Qingdao, China, rendered in a distinct Japanese lithographic art style typical of the late 1910s to late 1930s. These colorful transportation maps were widely commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Railways and regional transit companies during the pre-war boom to promote domestic travel, sightseeing, and national infrastructure across the expanding empire.
