bust of Otto von Bismarck, Germany’s Iron Chancellor, made by a sculptor or foundry named Uhlmann (signed “Uhlmann fec”). It is mounted on a black pedestal and dates from the late 19th to early 20th century, when such patriotic bronzes were widely produced. On the back is an engraving: “Uhlmann fec”, which translates from Latin as “made by Uhlmann.” This indicates the sculptor or foundry responsible for the piece. Dimension: 12"Height. The bust most likely represents Otto von Bismarck (1815–1898), the German statesman and first Chancellor of the German Empire, often depicted with a pickelhaube and military uniform in sculptures of this style. Bismarck busts were popular patriotic decorative objects in Germany during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
