Classic Caucasian Shashka with Silver Handle

Dimension: 33"L / 40"L . Running down the spine is a long, broad central fuller flanked by a smaller secondary fuller near the top edge. This engineering trick shaves away significant steel weight without compromising the blade's stiffness, ensuring a lightning-fast swing speed. Running just below the upper secondary fuller is a beautiful band of acid-etched or engraved scrollwork. The pattern consists of repeating, scrolling acanthus leaves and vinework. This style of blade decoration was highly popular on luxury Caucasian weapons from the late 19th century, elevating it from a standard mass-produced military blade to a custom presentation piece. The hooked pommel cap and the lower ferrule collar are decorated with deep, hand-chased scrolling foliate tendrils. The raised metal curves upward to form distinct borders around a central stylized flower rosette. The central grip section features an incredibly dense, uniform pattern of tiny raised metal studs. This texture was painstakingly hammered into the silver casing row by row using a specialized punch tool.
