A collection of fifty-eight United States five-cent pieces of various types and dates. The group comprises seven Liberty Head "V" nickels, eight Jefferson silver "War" nickels, and forty-three standard Jefferson nickels from the 1940s. The Liberty Head nickels feature the head of Liberty facing left on the obverse and a Roman numeral "V" within a wreath on the reverse; visible dates include 1887, 1899, 1903, 1905, 1906, and 1912. The eight silver "War" nickels, struck in a35% silver alloy, include dates from 1942 to 1945 and exhibit the characteristic large P, D, or S mint marks positioned prominently above the dome of Monticello on the reverse. The remaining forty-three Jefferson nickels date from the1940s and are composed of the standard copper-nickel alloy. Each coin displays the profile of Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and his Monticello estate on the reverse. The collection shows varying degrees of circulated wear.
