Original 1870s United States Internal Revenue $10 Special Tax Stamp for a Manufacturer of Cigars, featuring an elaborate engraved design with an allegorical female figure, tobacco imagery, federal revenue markings and numerous attached coupon sections. During the 19th century, cigar manufacturers and other businesses involved in the tobacco trade were subject to federal occupational taxes, with documents such as this issued as evidence of payment. Its large format, attractive period engraving and surviving attached coupons make it an interesting piece of American fiscal, tobacco and business history with appeal to collectors of U.S. revenue stamps and 19th-century Americana.
