A commanding pair of monumental abstract biomorphic floor sculptures, distinguished by soaring vertical proportions, sensuous serpentine silhouettes and richly polished faux bois surfaces evocative of exotic hardwood. Rising to approximately 59 inches and 53 inches respectively, the two complementary forms possess a pronounced architectural presence, their undulating contours creating an elegant visual dialogue when displayed together while remaining sufficiently sculptural to function independently. Each is modeled with a swollen, teardrop-form base that narrows and expands rhythmically through the body before terminating in a finely articulated, petal-like crest. Deep longitudinal channels and subtly faceted transitions introduce further dimensionality, exposing luminous amber, copper and caramel-toned passages against the predominantly deep mahogany-brown finish. Fine linear striations throughout convincingly simulate natural wood grain, while the glossy surface amplifies the sculptures' sweeping curvature and changing highlights from every viewing angle.

The works appear to be executed in molded resin or a related composite material with a sophisticated faux bois decorative finish; the material has not been independently tested. Both sculptures are individually mounted on substantial square black plinth bases, providing visual contrast and allowing considerable flexibility in placement. Their unusually large scale, strong silhouettes and sophisticated organic abstraction place them within the tradition of modernist and Organic Modern decorative sculpture, where natural forms are distilled into fluid, architectonic objects intended to interact directly with an interior environment. Particularly effective in an expansive contemporary residence, luxury hospitality setting, executive interior, gallery installation or collection of modern decorative arts, the pair offers substantial visual impact without reliance upon representational subject matter.

The sculptural treatment is especially successful when viewed in the round: alternating convex and recessed surfaces cause the warm amber passages to appear and disappear as the viewer moves around each form, while the different heights and independently shaped terminals prevent the pair from reading as simple duplicates. This asymmetry gives the ensemble the character of a deliberately coordinated sculptural installation rather than merely two matching decorative objects.

Both are in excellent overall condition. Minor superficial marks or handling wear may be present to the black bases, consistent with their floor-standing function. No maker, designer or studio attribution is known.
