An exceptionally broad 74-piece vintage comic book, magazine and paperback collection, comprising approximately 57 comic books and 17 magazines/paperbacks, centered on the 1970s Bronze Age of American comics with additional material extending into the 1980s. Bringing together Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Gold Key, Warren Publishing, MAD, Playboy, Penthouse and Cracked, the collection presents a remarkably varied survey of late-20th-century popular print culture spanning superheroes, horror, monsters, supernatural fiction, science fiction, war, westerns, prehistoric adventure, satire and men's magazines.

The collection is distinguished by several immediately recognizable collector issues. Foremost among them is Marvel's Tomb of Dracula #2, a desirable early issue from one of the defining horror titles of the Bronze Age. Also included is Marvel Two-in-One #1, the inaugural issue of Marvel's long-running Thing team-up series, here pairing The Thing with Man-Thing, together with Marvel Two-in-One #2 featuring The Thing and Sub-Mariner. DC collectors will note Justice League of America #107, an important Bronze Age key recognized for the first team appearance of the Freedom Fighters, introducing the team to the DC Universe through members including Uncle Sam, Phantom Lady, The Ray, Black Condor, Human Bomb and Doll Man. The magazine-format horror component is highlighted by Warren Publishing's Vampirella #31, an evocative example from the classic Warren era of illustrated horror and fantasy.

The Marvel portion forms one of the strongest components of the lot and ranges from marquee superheroes to the publisher's celebrated Bronze Age horror and monster revival. Clearly identifiable issues include Tomb of Dracula #2; Marvel Two-in-One #1 and #2; Adventure into Fear #29 featuring Morbius the Living Vampire; Weird Wonder Tales #9; Iron Man #80; Amazing Adventures Featuring the X-Men #2; Marvel Team-Up #44 featuring Spider-Man and Moondragon; Captain America and the Falcon #212; The Eternals #14; The Frankenstein Monster #13; Man-Thing #21; Creatures on the Loose #30 featuring Man-Wolf; Vault of Evil #22; Crypt of Shadows #9 and #20; Chamber of Chills #18; Where Monsters Dwell #33; Master of Kung Fu #19; 2001: A Space Odyssey #9; John Carter, Warlord of Mars #10; The Defenders #21, #29 and #34; and Nick Fury and His Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. #5.

Particularly notable is the concentration of Sub-Mariner/Namor material, including Marvel Spotlight on Sub-Mariner #27, Tales to Astonish Starring the Sub-Mariner #2, #4 and #5, Prince Namor, Sub-Mariner #1, and the Sub-Mariner appearance in Marvel Two-in-One #2. This group gives the lot additional relevance to collectors seeking character-focused Bronze Age runs and Silver/Bronze Age legacy heroes.

The Marvel horror material is especially evocative of the 1970s period in which the publisher aggressively expanded beyond conventional superhero fare. Dracula, Morbius, Man-Thing, Frankenstein, M
