A finely carved contemporary Canadian Inuit stone sculpture titled “Bear,” created in 2026 by the artist identified as T. T. of Iqaluit, Nunavut, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity. Compact yet highly expressive, the work presents the bear in a grounded, forward-moving stance, with a low arched back, rounded haunches, short powerful legs, small alert ears, and a subtly defined muzzle and mouth. The sculptor has favored essential form over excessive detail, giving the figure the strong, elemental presence associated with traditional Inuit animal carving while retaining a highly collectible miniature scale.

The stone displays unusually attractive natural coloration, with deep oxblood red, brown, olive green, charcoal and translucent amber-toned passages throughout the polished surface. This variegated, serpentine-style appearance gives the sculpture notable visual depth, with the bear’s form changing dramatically under light as the natural mineral patterning moves across the back, shoulders, head and legs. The glossy hand-polished finish enhances the organic character of the stone and gives the piece an appealing jewel-like quality.

Bears are among the most recognized and desirable subjects in Inuit sculpture, valued for their strength, resilience, Arctic symbolism and enduring collector appeal. While this is a small contemporary carving by an artist identified only by initials rather than a widely documented market name, the Iqaluit attribution, 2026 date, original authenticity certificate, and attractive multicolored stone make it a desirable entry-level Inuit sculpture for collectors of Canadian Arctic art, Indigenous art, Inuit animal carvings, bear sculptures, miniature stone carvings and Nunavut works.

Presents very well overall, with glossy polish, natural stone inclusions, surface variation and hand-carved irregularities consistent with the medium. No chips, cracks, losses or repairs. Certificate shows handling creases.

Dimensions: 3 in. long x 1 1/2 in. deep x 1 11/16 in. high.
A-20
