A refined and powerfully modeled bronze by Toussaint Riendeau, titled Sirène and dated 2006, presented as a scarce limited edition cast numbered 3 of only 9. The work depicts an abstracted seated female figure with a serene, forward-inclined posture, the head gently bowed and the torso tapering into a simplified lower body that evokes the timeless siren motif. Riendeau’s hand is evident across the surface in expressive tool work and intentional irregularities that catch the light and create a living skin of highlights and shadows. The bronze exhibits a rich, hand-rubbed golden patina with darker toning in the recesses that emphasizes the planes and volumes of the figure, while the compact block seat and subtly uneven integral base provide dynamic counterbalance and visual lift. The sculpture is signed and numbered in the casting along the base rim Riendeau 3/9, confirming its place in the extremely small edition. Accompanied by the artist-signed Certificate of Authenticity stating the title Sirène, the medium bronze, the edition 3/9, and certification date 18-07-2015.
Dimensions 6 in x 3 3/4 in x 10 in tall approximately 15.2 x 9.5 x 25.4 cm.
Condition is excellent with only the slightest evidence of handling and natural patina variation that is consistent with careful display.
This is a compelling opportunity for collectors of contemporary bronze, abstract figural sculpture, and limited edition works by Toussaint Riendeau, offering museum-caliber presence for a mantel, pedestal, or vitrine.
