A particularly compelling Jean Béliveau Montreal Canadiens signed photograph, distinguished by an unusually extensive series of career inscriptions that transform the image from a conventional autographed portrait into a concise visual record of one of the most celebrated careers in NHL history. Measuring 14 x 11 inches, the colour photograph depicts Béliveau in the iconic Montreal Canadiens red sweater, wearing the captain's "C" and his legendary No. 4, posed with stick and skates against a dark studio background. At lower left appears a prominent silver-marker signature attributed to Jean Béliveau, accompanied by "#4," "H.O.F. 1972," and "S.C." followed by the championship years "1956-57-58 / 59-60-65-66 / 68-69-71," representing all ten Stanley Cup championships won by Béliveau as a player with the Canadiens. The inscription is especially evocative of Montreal's extraordinary dynasty years, including the unprecedented five consecutive Stanley Cup championships from 1956 through 1960, followed by further titles in 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969 and 1971. Béliveau remains one of the defining figures in Montreal Canadiens and Original Six history - a longtime team captain, Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, two-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner, Art Ross Trophy recipient and the inaugural winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy. His combination of elegance, leadership, championship success and lifelong association with the Canadiens established No. 4 as one of hockey's most revered identities. Particularly desirable here is the combination of a strong full-uniform portrait with a large contrasting silver signature and extensive Hall of Fame and Stanley Cup inscriptions, creating exceptional visual presence for display and strong crossover appeal to collectors of Montreal Canadiens memorabilia, NHL autographs, Hockey Hall of Fame material, Stanley Cup memorabilia and Original Six hockey history. The photograph exhibits extremely minor surface and handling marks visible upon close inspection, but retains very strong colour, contrast and overall presentation.
