Executed in 2020 as a hand-embellished limited-edition giclée, the composition transforms the classic haunted-house tableau into a vivid collision of gothic fantasy, supernatural spectacle, and Godard's signature animated-character humor.<br><br>Dominating the scene is a looming Victorian-style mansion perched above a desolate graveyard, its glowing red-orange windows burning against an almost black nocturnal landscape. Jagged bolts of lightning tear across the storm-filled sky while an enormous luminous full moon illuminates the silhouette of a witch in flight. Spectral white ghosts hover around the house, leafless trees claw upward from the darkness, and crooked fencing, grave markers, turbulent clouds, and electric blue highlights intensify the work's cinematic sense of movement and suspense.<br><br>Against this ominous setting, Godard introduces the mischievous visual counterpoint for which his art is widely collected. In the foreground, brightly colored anthropomorphic figures - including one of the artist's instantly recognizable animated olive characters and a fleeing strawberry figure - race through the cemetery. Their playful absurdity transforms what might otherwise be a conventional gothic scene into something unmistakably Godard: humorous, surreal, technically polished, and visually exuberant.<br><br>The contrast is particularly effective. Moonlit whites, electric blues, fiery reds, saturated greens, and flashes of yellow emerge dramatically from the predominantly black ground, creating exceptional depth and visual impact. The hand-applied embellishment adds an individualized element to the editioned canvas and reinforces the distinction between the present work and a standard mechanically reproduced image.<br><br>The lower-right corner bears Michael Godard's hand signature in vivid yellow ink together with the edition notation 53/200. The work is documented by an accompanying Park West Gallery Certificate of Authenticity, which identifies the artist as Michael Godard, the title as Halloween 2, the date as 2020, and the medium as a giclée in color with hand-embellishment, hand-signed in ink by the artist.
