A vintage Zuni Native American stone inlay brooch or pin/pendant in sterling silver, weighing 6g and measuring 1.59 in wide, depicting a whimsical figural character in the “Zunitoon” style. Fine-line mosaic inlay covers the body in turquoise, mother of pearl, coral or spiny oyster, jet, and mixed shell, all set flush within silver bezel channels; the head and hat feature iridescent mother of pearl w/ dot-engraved eyes and a smiling face. Reverse shows a hinged pin bar w/ C-clasp and is engraved w/ cursive script initials appearing as “V&SB” or “VSB,” consistent w/ the signature mark of Virgil and Shirley Benn, celebrated Zuni-Paiute and Hopi-Tewa lapidary artists known for figural inlay work per consignor research. Shows minor surface wear and light tarnish consistent w/ age; inlay appears intact w/ no missing sections visible. Pin mechanism functional. All items are sold as-is.
