A late 19th to early 20th c. silver-plated ornate handle from a Victorian or Art Nouveau vanity dresser set, most consistent w/ a button hook or manicure nail file handle. The tapered form runs from a smooth cylindrical shaft into an ornately decorated tip in beaded grape-cluster and granulation style, with clusters of applied silver beads, twisted rope banding, and marquise-form bosses, terminating in a domed turquoise-blue cabochon in a rope-edged bezel; stone appears to be turquoise or turquoise-color glass. The opposite end of the shaft is open w/ an internal female-threaded socket, intended to receive the steel implement (button hook, file, or similar) that completed the piece; working implement not included. Plating shows wear w/ copper base metal visible along the shaft; tip retains bright detail w/ oxidation in recesses. Length approx 5.90 in.; tip approx 0.40 in. dia.; shaft approx 0.27 in. dia.; weight 17g. No maker mark or fineness stamp visible. All items are sold as-is.
