Description Bond” Big Hat lantern. Gold Bond 228H Models are documented in only May 1973, December 1973, and February 1974. The mustard/golden-yellow finish isn’t a normal Coleman color variation. These were made for the Gold Bond trading-stamp program—people collected Gold Bond stamps and redeemed them for merchandise. The Gold Bond Coleman line included only a handful of lantern and stove models, making the surviving originals desirable to Coleman collectors.
