A historic two-coin lot featuring two (2) genuine 1942 Jefferson Silver "War" Nickels, struck during the height of World War II. To conserve vital nickel for military industrial production (such as armor plating and weapons), Congress authorized a temporary composition change. These pieces represent a unique chapter in American currency history as the first-ever U.S. nickels to contain 35% fine silver.
