Description: Small hand-formed ceramic fish figure with a rounded body, large painted eye, and pointed mouth, hand-decorated with swirling rust-brown and dark brown scale-like patterns over a cream/gray ground. There is a hollow opening at the back, likely part of the piece's original hand-building/firing construction. No maker's mark is visible, but the hand-built construction and painted decoration are consistent with the Tonalá, Jalisco pottery tradition, a well-known Mexican folk ceramics center; the exact origin isn't confirmed without a mark. Measures H: 1.5", W: 1.25", L: 2". A charming small-scale folk art piece for collectors. Condition Report: Good vintage condition, wear commensurate with age. There is a chip/loss to the glaze at the tail edge, visible in the photos. No other cracks or losses noted. Keywords: Mexican folk art, Tonala pottery, ceramic fish figure, Mexican pottery figurine, hand-painted folk pottery, Jalisco ceramics, whimsical fish figure, collectible folk art pottery, small ceramic figurine Dimensions: H: 1.5", W: 1.25", L: 2"
