Dichroic glass is made by depositing ultra-thin layers of metal oxides onto glass in a vacuum chamber, a technique originally developed for aerospace and optical applications before studio glass artists adopted it for its dazzling color-shifting effect; every piece is unique, since the exact color play depends on the thickness and layering achieved in the kiln. Here the fused glass is set in a simple metal bail, letting the glass itself take center stage.
