Hand-carved bamboo root folk art sculpture, formed as two abstract stylized figures standing on splayed legs, joined by a horizontal yoke-like bar and supporting a hollowed, hexagonal saddle-basket form between them. The piece is carved from natural bamboo root or joined bamboo segments, retaining a rich reddish-brown patina from age and handling. This type of root and bamboo carving is a long-practiced Chinese folk art tradition, valued by collectors for its organic, one-of-a-kind forms shaped by the natural material as much as by the carver's hand. No maker's mark is present. Measures approximately 3" H x 4.5" L x 2" W. Condition: Good vintage condition. Wear commensurate with age, including natural material checking/splitting typical of bamboo and a rich, deepened patina from handling (see photos). No losses or breaks noted to the figural elements. Please review photos closely; we do our best to catch all flaws but small imperfections can be missed. Dimensions: H: 3", W: 2", L: 4.5"
