Early French hammered silver coin attributed to Henri III (Henry III), King of France, 1574–1589, believed to be a Franc au Col Fraisé. Features the crowned/ruff-collar portrait of Henri III with surrounding Latin legend and an ornate fleur-de-lis cross with central “H” on reverse. Possible 1580s date visible, though date and mint have not been positively confirmed. Coin weighs 13.6 grams and measures approximately 1-1/4" (32mm) diameter. Considerable age-related wear, surface marks and irregularities consistent with an early hammered coin; legends and major design elements remain substantially visible. Sold as shown and attributed based on available markings; bidders should review photos and make their own determination regarding exact date, mint, variety and authenticity.
